If you have a toddler at home, you might be wondering… “Will this even work?”
Yes. It will. And here’s how we make it smooth.
First, set expectations gently. Tell them they’ll get to help. Big siblings love feeling important. Let them know they’ll take a few special photos with baby and then they’re done being the star (because toddlers have a time limit — and I respect that).

Second, bring a small reward. It doesn’t have to be big. A favorite snack, sticker, or promise of a special outing afterward works wonders.
Third, don’t stress if they don’t perform perfectly. Some of the sweetest sibling images happen in between the “say cheese” moments — a forehead kiss, a curious look, a gentle touch.
I keep sibling portions short and sweet. We photograph them first while they’re fresh, then they can relax while we focus on baby. I guide posing in a way that keeps everyone safe and comfortable.

And here’s something important: your older child is adjusting, too. This is a huge transition. Including them in newborn photos tells them they still matter, they’re still seen, and they’re part of this story.
Those sibling images often become the most treasured ones years later.
Let’s create beautiful newborn photos that include your whole family.
